Scuola Politecnica di Design wants to thank everyone for participating this year in our edition of “Design Master Scholarships 2016”. The jury is honored to announce the winners of the student competition “Design students make a better world“.

Congratulations to Giuseppe Galletta (Master in Product Design), Aleksander krupa (Transportation and Car Design) and Gregorio Palmieri (Web and Digital Design).Thanks to the quality of the projects we decided to assign two scholarships in Visual Design to Henrique Iamarino e Maria Francisca Garcia Araya and two scholarships (50%) in Interior Design to Hamid Reza Sepehri and ​ Daniel Falcon Garcia.

SPD's jury is investigating some technical aspects of the received projects for the scholarships in Interior Design. We reserve a few days to communicate the results.

Despite the light surround us every day and has become a common aspect in our lives. We should not ignore the capacity that it has to influence in us in a very significant way. It establishes the hours of sleep as the hours of work, even affects our consciousness and health. Given the importance of lighting in interior design, this project search to achieve and manipulate the physical properties of light with the intention to implement a product capable of keeping focused, relaxed and alert to the user every time we want, enhancing the work of individuals inside home (cooking, studying, resting , reading, etc. )

This is achieved through different programming environments, manipulating factors such as color temperature, luminous flux ( direct and indirect light ) and light intensity. Saving resources and energy should not be seen only as a fashion trend, it must be present in all lighting design, it is true that new technologies help to the improvement and performance of objects. However this is not always the driving change, a project can be improved with new ideas and strategies such as maximizing the qualities of the materials, the geometry of the design or even the time to assemble a product.

The design of this luminaire is characterized mainly by its shape, sought that the design were timeless and minimalist, removing exceeding elements and reduced the design to the essential, to make it look aesthetically natural, current and simple regardless of the passage of time; a uniform and symmetrical designs were also wanted to avoid shadows or textures with the structure and screen luminary, the size was considered to the luminary to illuminate an area of 3 x 4 meters approximately and the use of screws decided for easy access and maintenance service.
